For most British people, Nissan Qashqai is a family car. It promises to be safe, comfortable, pragmatic, attractive and pocket-friendly to run as well. The quandary is that many other cars of the segment promise very much the same things. The dilemma is- Why should you choose Qashqai over the likes of Mazda CX-5, Skoda Yeti, Hyundai ix35 and others.
Nobody will buy this car believing it to be an all-terrain car and rightly so. Instead most buyers will drive it smoothly and don’t make the fellow passengers at the backseat feel carsick. You are prone to get a few jolts inside the cabin when the car encounters potholes, but you are far more comfortable in case of bigger bumps say, speed bumps. Nissan that it has embedded a smart system which applies breaks when the car is going through the bumps.

There are various choices of engine available as expected, but you need to consider what kind of driving you are going to do before making the choice. The small 1.2 litre is perfect if you are going to do a lot of town driving but it feels less powerful when you get out to longer runs on the motorway. If you are going to drive the car on the motorways more often, then you should go for the Diesel version. There options available with the Diesel Version, the 1.5 litre less powerful version is very quiet and relaxed and the 1.6 version is considerably more powerful useful in towing or carrying lots of people on regular basis. The drawback with 1.6 diesel version is that it tends to get a touch too noisy.
Things feel nice inside the cabin, the plastic is very soft on the dashboard and the gross black soft material around the central console lends a feeling of smartness to the dashboard. The steering and the seats are highly adjustable so it won’t be a problem to people who have a height of more than 6 ft. You get a glitzy touchscreen which is very simple to use except in the basic version. You don’t have to control everything from the touchscreen, you get a selection of clear and chunky buttons down the side and at the bottom, so that you don’t have to take eyes off the road every now and then to change the temperature and similar functions.

The visibility is average because you get very big and broad pillars on the front windows and they are more gigantic at the back, blocking almost everything you see from the quarter glass.
The car comes with a choice of four trim levels i.e. Visia, Acenta, Acenta premium and Techna and the best of those are Acenta and Acenta Premium. With the Visia you get Bluetooth, Cruise control and Air Conditioning, the Acenta will also fetch you duo-zone climate controls, and auto-lights and wipers. Acenta Premium is also worth considering because with it you get Panoramic Sun roof, front and rear parking sensors and rear parking camera.
On flattening the back seats you get around 1513 litre of boot space.
The Nissan holds on to its value really nicely so overall it’s a good buy. It’s an unfussy family car which does the job pretty we
